About our Board of Directors
SVEC Bylaws (Article IV, Section 2b) state that the Board of
Directors of Shenandoah Valley Electric shall consist of at
least nine and no more than twelve members, three or four of
whom shall reside in Augusta County, three or four of whom
shall reside in Rockingham County, two or three of whom shall
reside in Shenandoah County and one of whom shall reside in
either Hardy, Hampshire, or Pendleton Counties, West Virginia.
The Board is made up of nine members. The term of
office for a director is three years and a director may succeed
him or herself. Directors are elected by a secret ballot of
the members present at the Annual Meeting of members. The
Cooperative's Bylaws require a minimum of two names be placed
into nomination for each position on the Board up for re-election.
Qualifications to become and remain a Board member are:
- Must be a member of the Cooperative and be a bona
fide resident of one of the counties as specified by
the Bylaws.
- May not be an employee of the Cooperative or an
affiliated association or related to an employee or
incumbent director as set forth in the Bylaws.
- Cannot be employed by or significantly financially
interested in a competing enterprise or a business
selling electric energy or supplies to the Cooperative.
- Must have attained the age of 21 years by the date of
his or her election.
